I Made This! Pinterest Project # 10 (Bonus Post) Man Bouquet Tutorial

This is my favorite gift I’ve made in a while. It was a user uploaded photo on Pinterest, so I’m again not completely sure of the source. When be brought it to K’s brother for his birthday it looked like this:

I really wanted him to think he was getting a potted plant, and be hiding his disappointment. :) Cruel I know but I love that stuff! The hardest part was carrying it up the 3 flights of stairs with K and his brother! We had to keep him chatting so he wouldn’t hear the clinking sound coming from the “potted plant”.

Supply List:

• 1/2 pint focal point – about $9
• various mickies – the teeny liquor bottles by the checkout – about $4 each
• various cigars – we bought them later so they are not shown in the supply picture (various prices, pick your price point)
• floral foam – on special for $6 for 5 blocks at Michael’s
• terra cotta pot – $2 at Dollarama
• ribbon – $3 at Michael’s
• skewers – $1 at Superstore
• spanish moss – $4 at Micheal’s
• hot glue gun and glue – already had these

Measure and cut your ribbon to fit around the pot, leaving a couple inches to overlap. I cut a length of ribbon and made a separate ribbon bow to attach, so I didn’t have to worry about if my ribbon band would be long enough with a bow. If you are a pro, feel free to make it all one piece :)

Hot glue the mickies and cigars to the skewers. The glass ones should have at least 2 skewers, the Disaronno was on 2 skewers and fell off, so I used 3 for it and it worked fine. The Jameson was the 1/2 pint focal, so I used 4. The plastic ones and the cigars got away with 1 skewer each.

Cut the floral foam to fit in the pot. It creates a LOT of dust when you cut it. I’d recommend doing this outside if it’s summer, or inside on newspaper that can be thrown out afterwards if weather doesn’t permit. I just did it on the table and I’ve been cleaning up green dust for a while now…

Leave the foam about 1-2 inches down from the top of the front of the pot to accomodate the 1/2 pint, put spanish moss over the foam to pretty it up :)

Then the fun part – Stick all the cigars and mickies in the foam and admire your amazing creation!
